ABOUT TRUE NORTH

True North is a Robert Perry designed 1978 Islander Freeport 36 B plan. The B plan layout was purposely designed for and is ideal for a cruising couple! We have owned her since 2012. True North has cruised Mexico and the Sea of Cortez every season since sailing her south from Newport Beach in 2017 and returning to Long Beach in 2024. She has been lovingly maintained and continuously updated.

HEAD

Head is all the way forward with sit down shower to Port. Built in sink and storage to starboard - with integrated dirty clothes hamper. Head is to Port - hidden by door. Shower grate covers bilge area which is drained by a shower sump pump that exits directly overboard.

Fully Battened mainsail - restitched and new slides 2017. Lee Sails stackpack new in 2020. 150% Roller Furled Genoa - light to no use for many years. Hood furler. Mast, boom and spreaders - pulled, refurbished and repainted with AwlGrip - 2003. Standing rigging replaced - 2003. Extendable spinnaker pole with lifeline stanchion holders. Garhauer rigid boom vang - 2017. Garhauer mainsail traveler and blocks - new 2021. Updated running rigging, including sheets and blocks for cruising spinnaker.

SOLAR

Solar: (Renogy 2017). Installed SS Bimini frame and 3 - 100 Watt solar panels. Solar controller and wiring

DINGHY

Dinghy:New Garhauer davits 2017 Older Avon 8 foot soft bottom dinghy (4 person) with collapsible oars and a Honda 2.3 HP outboard in excellent condition.

PROPULSION

Universal M5144 Diesel (rebuilt and installed 2015). New prop shaft - 2017. New Dripless shaft seal - 2024. Updated 3 blade prop - 2017. New Head gasket and head serviced -2017. New mixing elbow - 2017. New heat exchanger - 2021. Less than 1500 hours on rebuild.

INTERIOR

Updated fabric in main salon. All teak in head area stripped, bleached and varnished. New vinyl bead-board (Home Depot Veranda) overhead in forward cabin and head - with 1 inch closed cell insulation and finished with varnished teak trim. (Completed 2020). Bead-board and insulation in main salon underdeck areas - improved access to genoa track bolts and nuts. Oceanaire rolling shades/screens on 3 large bomar opening ports with varnished teak trim
Refrigerator - all old insulation removed and closed cell spray in insulation - 2017. High capacity refrigeration unit - 2017. Converted CNG to propane stove with gimbaled Force 10 Propane 3 burner with oven and broiler. New propane lines - 2016. New custom rail mount propane tank holder 2017. Exterior window shades - snap on - 2020. All new sanitation lines and vented loop - 2020. PH superflush - household size head - 2017. All LED interior and running lights - 2017. CUSTOM plate rack and spice cabinet in galley - 2017. FROLI springs and under-bed ventilation system - 2017. New pullman berth memory foam mattress - 2017. Replace all hot and cold waterlines with color coded PEX - 2024.

TANKS

New Moeller plastic fuel tank 33 gallon - 2013. Holding tank under pullman berth - approximately 35 gallons, with all new sanitation hoses - 2018. Fresh Water tanks - two 50-60 gallon stainless tanks under port and starboard salon seats.

ELECTRONICS

NEXXUS 2 instruments - depth, wind, GPS. Raymarine autopilot controller, compass, rudder sensor and cockpit control - installed 2018. BnG Zuess Chartplotter multifunction display - new 2017. BnG 24 mile radar installed on Garhauer radar pole - all new 2017. VHF with AIS receive only - integrated with chartplotter. Full BnG network sharable via wifi with iPad.
